MEET SHAYNA STRICKLAND
Owner, Director
Growing up with a family business based in her home gave Shayna an inside view of what being a business owner entailed. After graduating college, she began working part time in the family business, starting with basic admin and finances. Over the years, she helped grow the company from the basement into progressively larger spaces, taking on new responsibilities at each stage. Her focus expanded from finances and HR into management, operations, and marketing.
To strengthen her expertise, Shayna took classes at the Harvard Extension School in budgeting, forecasting, and financial management, eventually working her way up to CFO and COO. After moving to Virginia, she continued supporting the business remotely while also serving as Controller for The Sorrel Group. In both roles, she contributed to steady growth and long-term success.
Shayna brings over 24 years of bookkeeping experience and more than 14 years of Controller and CFO expertise. She lives in Glen Allen, Virginia, with her husband, two children, and their dog.
She founded Kinship Strategy Group to continue supporting her longtime employers as they transitioned into retirement, while also creating a business structure that allows her to serve clients with greater flexibility and focus. What began as a way to maintain trusted relationships and meaningful work has grown into a thriving practice — one that has given her a strong sense of community, an extended family, and a renewed sense of purpose.
